What the Funk?

It's a good thing our pediatrician has clinic hours on Saturday mornings!

Stormy woke me up to nurse at 4 a.m. yesterday morning with one of his eyes glued shut by some crazy funk. So I cleaned him up, sure that it had gotten scratched or he had gotten something in there and that it might be infected. Again at 7 a.m., same nasty funk. Adam questioned whether we should take him to the doctor. And after consulting my book of baby knowledge, and his ever-wise Nana, I agreed and gave the doctor a call and they had us come on in. Nana came over and joined us for the visit (it's so much easier doing these things with an extra set of hands!).

Turns out Stormy has an infected tear duct. It was totally gross y'all, and the poor kid was so irritated. We have to squeeze any pus out of his tear duct a few times a day, and we got an antibiotic ointment that's damn near impossible to squirt into his little eyeball. Tear my heart out, why dontcha?! He's screaming, and I have to pry his eye open and squeeze that stuff in there three times a day. Poor little dude...

But today is a new day. His eye looks so much better, and he's feeling better, it seems. (At least, his appetite's back. Have I mentioned he never stops eating?) And we're just glad it's not Pink-eye, because everyone knows how you get Pink-eye... ew!!!

p.s. Unofficially, since he was weighed with his clothes on, Stormy now weighs over 9 lbs.! Big guy!
